Description

Course Description:

This interactive session provides a deep dive into MDS 3.0 Section GG and Section O coding requirements for the assessment and reporting of self-care and mobility. Participants will explore how CMS’s expanded GG item sets and O-section updates affect data accuracy, reimbursement, and quality measure outcomes. Through case examples and coding scenarios, attendees will learn how to establish reliable interdisciplinary collaboration, ensure accurate usual performance coding, and align facility processes with current RAI Manual guidance and QRP (Quality Reporting Program) expectations.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

1. Describe CMS requirements for assessing and reporting self-care and mobility using Section GG and related Section O items.

2. Accurately apply updated GG coding definitions, scoring scales, and discharge goal conventions.

3. Identify documentation sources and IDT processes that support defensible coding and consistent interdisciplinary input.

4. Explain how GG and Section O data influence PDPM reimbursement, Quality Measures (QMs), and SNF QRP compliance.
