Course Description:

This session is designed to assist the IDT members in improving MDS coding accuracy. An in-depth review of the most common MDS coding errors that impact reimbursement, compliance, and quality care will be provided and explore how clinical documentation, diagnosis coding and assessment accuracy impact reimbursement. Participants will gain insight and learn strategies to avoid these types of errors and enhance the facility’s coding integrity and financial performance.

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify the most common MDS coding errors that affect PDPM reimbursement.

2. Understand the impact of inaccurate coding on PDPM payment, quality measures and audit risk.

3. Develop strategies to align interdisciplinary documentation to support MDS coding.
